To be able to do more for the local community, we need to upgrade our aging studio equipment with new digital systems.

This will not only help us deliver a more reliable and solid service broadcasting to the community, but will also allow us to engage more closely with more people and organisations, through the provision of modern training facilities and training in essential life skills.

Replacing our equipment will bring us up-to-date with the latest digital technology and provide us with at least another 20 years of broadcasting. It will also ensure we’re better placed to channel our programmes, local promotions, community highlights and services through more media platforms, including Smartspeaker, apps and DAB.

So, we need the help of our loyal listeners and supporters in St Albans.

As a non-profit company run entirely by volunteers, we rely on donations, advertising revenue and grant funding to generate sufficient funds to simply keep us providing our services, none of which would be possible without our amazing team of volunteers, who selflessly give nearly 20,000 hours of their own time every year to create and present programmes, bring you local traffic and travel news, school closure updates, as well as keep our equipment running, promote you and your stories on air and on social media, train and mentor new volunteers

We need to raise £25,000 for this Phase One upgrade. We will match any donation or fundraising revenue pound-for-pound from our financial reserves, meaning that if we can raise just £12,500 from new sources we’ll be there!

Members of our Bouche a Oreille, Sport and Environment  teams are organising a Quiz Night, to be held on Saturday 2nd May at Fleetville Community centre. Needless to say, there will be music rounds, compiled by our specialist music presenters Dave Adcock and Mark Laughlan.

We will be hosting a wine-tasting evening at Majestic Wine in St Albans on, where manager Henry Wisson and his team will talk you through some of the lesser known vintages and grape varieties – and there will be a discount for purchases on the night and 10% off fares with Corker Cabs, so there’s no need to worry about driving!

Please, help us reach this target, and help us make Radio Verulam the very best it can be!

Talk to our sales team on and help us with the Big Radio Refit.
