Herts Inclusive Theatre – About our charity
Herts Inclusive Theatre aims to improve the well-being of people, particularly children and young people and those who are disadvantaged or disabled, by using the arts to build confidence and develop skills in an inclusive, fun, creative space.
Our vision is that everyone should have opportunities to enhance their lives through creative and educational activities in environments that are positive and welcoming to all, regardless of people’s background or abilities.
Led by experienced practitioners, our workshops are open to all and are especially welcoming to those with special needs. Our tag line ‘A Stage for Everyone’ means that we provide a physical stage or area for everyone to take part in, but we also support each participant with whatever stage in their life they are going through. We strongly believe that theatre should be accessible to everyone and as such are extremely proud to welcome those who are often excluded from mainstream opportunities.
Support and what we have been up to
Our charity have sadly had to close due to the current sitiation with COVID-19 and we are desperately trying to find the funding to keep it going so we can start up again in the future. Our activities provide a safe space for our participants and we are very sad that we cannot provide our services for now. A parent of one of our particapents said: “My son’s confidence has grown and seeing him perform in shows is something I never thought possible. Not having HIT (Herts Inclusive Theatre) would leave a massive gap our lives. It’s essential part of education and socialisation for all the members.”
As well as putting a fundraising plan together and launching a crowdfunder page (link below) we are keeping up our online presence as much as possible. We have been providing videos for our supporters to follow along; last week, one of our lead practitioners posted daily videos, each with a different activity that can be done at home. These are available to watch on our social media pages, youtube channel and website (all links below). We aim to provide fun, online content to keep up positivity and also to keep our supporters entertained during this difficult time. This includes creating a virtual mexican wave.
We welcome any support possible to help keep a small charity like us up and running. We are trying to share our crowdfunder page as much as possible and any donation would be hugely appreciated: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/hertsinclusivetheatre?utm_term=dYvMg2gEe
