You may have seen Andy Waterfield’s facebook group post.
Andy is going to take some time away until the New Year from his role as a team leader and programme controller. We’ll still hear Andy on air and he remains a volunteer with us.
The Programme Controller role is the biggest operational role at the station and it is a tough one, effectively managing over 40 people and responsible for all of our output. On behalf of us all I am sure, I want to publicly extend huge thanks which I communicated to Andy when we spoke recently about this.
A number of things arise from Andy’s decision:
- Day to day, you can contact me on things you would previously asked Andy about.
- Please respect Andy’s time away and don’t bother him on anything programme controller related
- Andy has shared some of his recent experience of volunteering with us in his post. This is a good time to remind you to review the volunteer handbook (link requires login). We expect everyone to respect fellow volunteers and this extends to remembering that we do not have paid employees, and we should not demand rapid response from people who other things in their lives. Bear in mind that something which is a priority for you might be trumped by other station priorities and personal life.
- I will obviously be pretty busy so please if you are sending me email, expect a delay but if anything is urgent and output affecting, please include the word URGENT in the email subject.
I’ve agreed with Andy that he’ll step back at least until January and of course it is then up to Andy how much if anything he wants to do in the future aside from presenting.
