It’s a champion Verulam Sport

FIRST BROADCAST : March 2, 2019 3:00 pm

Another action packed Verulam Sport from 3pm-6pm on Saturday 2nd March.

Watford are enjoying a fabulous campaign but they were soundly beaten mid-week by title challenging Liverpool. To review this and no doubt hoping for better against Leicester on Sunday once again we are lucky to be joined live on the phone by the Hornets Head of Communications Richard Walker. Tweet in your questions to @verulamsport and they could well be featured.

Saints fans will still be dreaming of a Playoff run come the end of the season. But after dropping to 11th in the Vanarama League South they will need to get back to winning ways on Saturday. Travelling to 5h placed Welling Utd they will be severely tested but with Sam Merson and new goal machine James Ewington amongst the goals in a midweek victory  hopes will be high. Of course the 'Voice of the Saints' Ian Rogers will describe all the action.

In local Rugby the Old Albanians claimed their first win of 2019 last week against Ding Crusaders and will be hoping to build on that in front of the watchful eye of new coach, ex- Leicester Tigers and Wasps Hooker, James Buckland. Brian Quin describes the action from their away clash from Cornwall against Redruth. We also have an exclusive interview with the new head honcho!

The amazing tipoff@3 basketball tournament at St Albans Westminster Lodge last week was a roaring success raising £750 for Kids in Crisis and we will hear from co-organiser Michael Wallace who will also explain about what is coming next. From shooting hoops, to goal shooting we welcome back Kat Ratnapala Head Coach and Director of Netball of local Netball Super League team Saracens Mavericks who climb to second in the table. Plus, we are delighted to welcome back London Colney's Ollie 'Punch Perfect' Pattison who will tell us whats next after another impressive win in his professional boxing career. As if that's not enough we also bring you a chat with St Albans own Marcus Ellis, a multiple medal winning Badminton star ahead of the All England Championships in Birmingham next week.

All this and so much more, Verulam Sport with Tony Rice, Matthew Turvey, Json McKenna and Jo Kiely 3-6pm 92.6 FM and online on www.radioverulam.com
