We all have that childhood author we love and adore.
Helping your child to find that author can be overwhelming, but when you find it, it is worth the search.
The Parents Show was asked by 2 children to bring their favourite author onto the show so we could ask some very important questions about the book.
Helena Duggan, author of A Place Called Perfect and The Trouble with Perfect, joined us live to answer some burning questions for the author and about her books. We had local children Archie, Callum, Mieke, Noor and Saoirse joining us to ask their questions about being an author and about Helenas’ two books. A Place Called Perfect is The Guardian @crimefest winner, shortlisted @Waterstones Children's Prize, @WHSmith Tom Fletcher Book.
We were also joined by Ms Sims, head of English at Lockers Park school in Hemel Hempstead, to find out how creative writing is taught in schools today and what we as parents can do to best support our children.
Finally, we spoke to Victoria Ademosu, the founder of TheTutoress.com, a growing education service which provides intensive courses, resources and revision workshops for children seeking to pass the 11+ school entrance exams. We spoke to her specifically about their creative writing courses for children.
