Weekly update – 7 August 2020

This week there is just one big news story.....

For the last two or three years Kerry Cobb has been doing a brilliant job nurturing a long term client who really has an amazing reputation in the city. Her work has been first class, and as a result she has now landed our largest ever commercial deal.

The Maltings Shopping Centre has become the sponsor of Good Morning St Albans.

We all owe Kerry and the GMSA team and travel reporters huge thanks for this coup. Well done!

In announcing the new sponsorship, Phil Corrigan, the Manager of the centre said:

“We are so pleased to be partnering with Radio Verulam again! As the shopping centre in the heart of St Albans we pride ourselves on the support we give to the St Albans community and its wonderful groups and charities, and with Radio Verulam being a community radio station the fit is perfect.  Both the Maltings and Radio Verulam are not only focussed on the local community within St Albans itself but also have the same desire to attract visitors into our wonderful City”.

In other news...

The Board met this week and has decided to end our "keep us on air" fundraising campaign.  We are now financially secure probably for the next 12 months at least and it seems an appropriate time to thank to fundraising team (Faye, Mike, Ruth, Ren and Amanda) plus everyone who has worked on fundraising initiatives.  We will be back fundraising again I am sure for growth projects like, perhaps, premises, reporting equipment and so on but the need for cash to keep us on air is now much reduced. In addition to monies raised by fundraising projects, Board members and others have been successful in securing over £23,000 of grant funding.  Thanks everyone.

Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday's volunteer meeting.
