Update

A few bits from me this week.

A new product has been launched!  Our new voucher/offers scheme was dreamed up by Denise, Mandy and Andy and taken up by Kerry.  Twelve out of a target 24 for the first wave for Christmas are already sold.  These are "small ads"/vouchers for local independent businesses at £100+VAT.  In return, they get their offer distributed to at least 10,-000 homes in the area, read out on air, and featured by us on our website and social media.   It is quite a lot of work (thanks Kerry and Andy) first time round but we hope we can automate and streamline the process so we can continue this new revenue earner which also helps our important local independent businesses and our local economy.

Great to see a good number of people at our volunteer briefing meeting on 8th October.  Thanks to everyone who came along.  We reckon probably once every three or four months is about right; look out for the next date.

Last Thursday was our first "Fourth Thursday" at The Beech House.   Join us if you can next month (26th November, 7pm) or at "First Saturday" at the Courtyard Cafe (3rd November, 10.30).  It is a chance to chat and meet other volunteers.

On 1st November, our Company Members meet to make some important decisions about how the Company is run (our Articles) and the request by some Members that a Director is dismissed from office.  This important work has taken up a lot of the Board's time in the last two months.

Coming up soon, the Christmas lights switch on in St Albans and Harpenden; already!  The St Albans Council has asked us for a compere for the city centre event...another small piece of evidence of how we are viewed in our city.

We are finalising a grant application to the Ofcom Community Radio Fund.  The application is for an extension to a sales and business development contract we hope to soon enter into and for some development of new revenue generating products such as a supporters' club and podcast advertising.

We will be holding second round interviews for the Operations Manager contract with four candidates in the next two weeks and completing a shortlist for the business development and sales contract.

Any questions or ideas, just ask.

Thanks

Nick.
