Operations Manager Update #30

Important Coronavirus COVID-19 Update

I want to update you on the steps Radio Verulam are taking to help minimise the spread of COVID-19.

In line with new advice from the Chief Medical Officer for England, volunteers experiencing a new and persistent cough and/or a temperature of 37.8 or above should remain home for 7 days.  We are maintaining our focus of frequent and thorough hand-washing for all volunteers and guests who enter the studios, reception and kitchen areas, including cleaning of surfaces to reduce exposure to this virus.

To help combat the spread of COVID-19, we have been putting precautionary safety measures in place, including:

  • Educating all volunteers and guests on prevention
  • Emphasizing frequent and proper handwashing
  • Cleaning high contact points
  • Providing anti-bacterial wipes

As a community media station, we are balancing our role as a vital local service, with the need to act responsibly, and at the right time, to this fast-moving situation. In line with government guidance, we are continuing to operate as usual. Should government guidance change or if there are any immediate developments, we will then be closed. We will continue to keep in touch with you and follow official guidance from the UK Government and Public Health England.

I am committed to getting this information to you as soon as the details are finalised, and am working closely with Nick Hazell, Andy Waterfield and the board to aid the station's preparations and planning. It is vital that all decision making at this stage is informed, carefully addresses needs and is sustainable during this outbreak.

It is of vital importance for us to be in a position to ensure that any and all procedures are in place to support your health and well-being. In the meantime, we are committed to maintaining our live broadcast output and remain focused on limiting the impact of this outbreak on volunteers.

We will notify you of any change in circumstance as soon as we are aware via email, WhatsApp and the Facebook volunteers group.
