We have made two grant applications this week.
As we move towards charitable status, we will be doing more of this to fund more community-based activities with radio at their core.
One is to the Ofcom Community Radio Fund to extend our sales and business development effort to the areas covered by our now more powerful transmitter. This, if granted, will fund a contract with a sales provider to cover areas outside St Albans itself.
The other is to the Herts Community Fund. They will be distributing funds from the "tampon tax" to support projects involving women. Our pitch is for workshops and training leading to podcasts and programmes relating to issues the women taking part feel are important to them. The activity will aim to increase self confidence and skills particularly for women from excluded communities and who are not in employment.
