To complete the Stalingrad in British History program in St Albans, a special screening of the film «Stalingrad» (2013) with Q&A and special guests will be held at the Odyssey Cinema St Albans on Sunday, March 8th from 6.30 pm. The information and tickets will be available from https://odysseypictures.co.uk

A donation from the screening will be made to the Stalingrad Battle Foundation

The Battle of Stalingrad was the largest confrontation of World War II in which Germany and its allies fought the Soviet Union for control of Southern Russia. The hard-fought Russian victory was also the turning point of WW2.

The scale of Russia’s sacrifice in WW2 is staggering with an estimated 26 million lives lost. The Battle of Stalingrad cost over 1,100,000 Red Army and civilian casualties alone.

With the armies of the Third Reich also suffering three-quarters of their wartime losses while fighting Russia.

There is no doubt that Russia was a vital ally to Great Britain in World War II.
